I have a friend, who a few years ago, was out of work and looking for a job in his field of advertising.  Through a friend he heard of an open position at a firm but there was one catch.  One of the pre-requisites for the job was that the applicant had to be a smoker.  As luck (?) would have it, my friend was a smoker.  In fact, he liked a lot.  A whole lot.   I'm sure the thought of going to work in an office where smokers weren't relegated to the freight elevator lobby or some back alley behind the building sounded almost too good to be true.  He made the sacrifice and took the job. 

For American non-smokers out there, you will be happy to know that smoking is on the decline in western countries with consumption dropping annually since 2001.  Down to somewhere in the neighborhood of 600,000,000,000 "sticks" per year.  That's a lot of damned sticks.  And a lot of damned cancer, no doubt. The scary thing is that's the good news….
