“H.R. 5719″ HSA Simplification Vacation Fri. 4/18
|
Well, this week has turned out to be rather exciting in the world of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). If you missed the action, it's not too late for you to become informed and get involved. Check out "HSA Hell" posted earlier this week on this site. You can either click on the link above or just scroll down the page when you get done reading this post. Suffice it to say, if you missed the fun earlier this week that blog post might cause you to pop a grommet. If you're unfamiliar with that little piece of slang, it's similar to getting your shorts in a bunch, which hopefully is universal slang. Anyway, once you spend a few minutes becoming familiar with this particular Health Savings Account issue, you can begin spreading the word to your congressman, insurance agent, banker, friends and family and begin to work toward protecting your own money. Because in short, this little piece of legislation, if passed, will basically require you to get a permission slip from some stranger to access the money that you earned and that you smartly put into a Health Savings Account (HSA), that you report to the IRS, that your bank provides you with backup of your annual withdrawals, and that you presently have immediate access to without penalty for your qualified medical expenses. In today's world, what's yours is yours. If this piece of legislation somehow gets approved, in tomorrow's world, what's yours will be yours, but not when you want it, nor without having to go round your arse to get to your elbow. As for any new news today, H.R. 5719 was entered into the Senate and sent to committee on Wednesday (4/16) and there, behind the curtain it sits. Stay tuned and as we learn more about this sucker, we'll keep you posted. |
