Out From The Dust, Sculpture, And Coat Rack

Part 2 of the best damned  6-part series you will ever read on health clubs!    

As luck would have it, 12 years ago (I'll tell you how I know that little bit of trivia in a bit), at my wife's insistence we purchased what had become an industrial piece of sculpture, dust catcher and sometimes clothes hanger heretofor in our closet.  I'm sure you know a few folks with these as well.  Actually the thing, once dusted off was actually a treadmill.  It probably had no more than 10 miles of use on it in it's entiretenure in our home.  Anyway, the thing worked so I thought I would see if I could tolerate working out on it for awhile.

We expanded our closet a few years ago and relocated treadmill there.  I can't recall if it was ever used after the relo or not.  Until I decided to use it again.  Being located above the kitchen and off the bedroom, it created two challenges.  First, it shook the ceiling so hard above the kitchen that the sheetrock began to crack.  Second and even more importantly, it was highly interruptive to my wife's very important television viewing.  When I suggested we moved the treadmillasaurus down to the basement, I was amazed at how quickly my wife jumped into help me.  Those Gilmore Girls must be something else.

I was pleased to get it out of the closet because in addition to the kitchen problem, I was a bit concerned the closet would soon be smelling like the gym.    And goodness knows, save for a dead rat, I couldn't make the basement smell any funkier than it already does.

I got my basement all set up.  I had even managed to finagle a locker from the health club prior to its demolition which I stocked with a can of Lysol which I periodically use to cover the funk.

Except for the fact that the treadmill, as its name suggests, is likely the most boring form of exercise ever invented, everything worked fine in my new "health club."  At first……
