Health Club? I Don’t Need No Stinking Health Club!

Part 1 of the best damned  6 part series you will ever read on health clubs!

Back in September I stopped going to the health club where I exercised sometimes because they decided to tear it down.  Bummer.

Before I go any further, it's worth me reiterating that I believe good health is paramount to solving our nation's health care problems.  HDHPs and HSAs can be part of the solution too, but we can't rely solely on insurance and savings products to make us feel good.  Exercise and decent eating habits go a long way to making us feel good and keeping chronic illness and other nasties away.

Anyway, back to the story.  Being a thrifty guy, while kind of bummed, I thought I would see how long I could go without joining another club.  If you've read any of the previous Gradock articles on haircuts, you might recognize that this is not really much of a stretch for me.

This was not big deal in the fall because in the sunny South, where I live, the temperature is warm enough to ride my bike.  The problem only comes for me when the temperature drops below about 65 degrees.  I'm just not into all that gear the hardcore bikers wear.  I kind of like my red neck attire, which doesn't keep me particularly warm once the temperature begins to drop.  I've tried bundling up and such, but it's hard to pedal when one is bundled up like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, plus my jeans are prone to getting stuck in the chain.

About the only cold weather exercise I can handle all bundled up is chopping wood, and since no trees have fallen in my yard lately, and my wife won't let me clear cut, once it started getting cold in November it was time to come indoors….

The story gets better and will continue in the next edition of The Gradock Bulletin here on HSAeducator.com
