Climbing High Mountain

Chapter 26 – So my wife has made some progress on the whole HSA thing, but we still have not pulled the trigger. I am waiting to get the latest update from her, but she has been pre-occupied the past few days with other crisis. I think there was a trip to the mall in there somewhere.
Anyway, the latest is $372.50. That

is the current number bubbling around with respect to a high deductible health plan that is in the ball park of meeting our needs. We are a family of four, with two adults a little past their late 30s with kids not yet driving. It’s got a really high deductible (around $10K) but has some wellness benefits as well as some other benefits around meds but I don’t know all the details yet as Moses has not yet come down from the mountain with the etched tablets, but she has sent up a couple of smoke signals.
As a couple points of reference, this figure is 57% less than what I am paying today and about 32% more than what I was paying under my old group plan so we are moving in the right direction for sure. The competitive side of me thinks we can do better, and the practical side of me thinks that once I get the full strip search by the insurance companies, they will figure out how to tack on a few more $s of premium.
More to follow…
