2008 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AND HEALTH CARE 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 2
Regardless of whether or not you think the "fundamentals of the US economy are sound" our economy is certainly getting a ton of focus in Congress and in the news. Here's the question. Realistically, where will Healthcare land on the new President's agenda rolling into 2009? Please comment.

Will presidential policy have any impact on HSA education, high deductible health plans (hdhps), health savings accounts, wellness, personal responsibility in healthcare??

Enquiring minds would sure like to know.

Healthcare could slide down the list of priorities yet again, as economic events take center stage.

I tend to agree. I think the candidates carefully craft their words and ideas BEFORE election day, but once in office, other political issues take precedence and the political machine takes over.

My guess is, given the state of the economy, the environment, social security, and the ever mounting number of additional issues clamoring for attention these days, that it will not be surprising to find that none of the healthcare components you mentioned even register as a blip on the radar. I mean, if we're honest, we aren't much for personal responsibility for much of anything, much less healthcare, right?
