Pumpkin Pie

Chapter 19 – Now I did a little back of the envelope math on Mr. Edwards’ plan. According to him it could cost upward of $120 billion per year. There are 45 million uninsured Americans, and God knows how many un-Americans whom Mr. Edwards fails to mention can not be denied medical care if they show up at a hospital. Now I know I am doing this math in

a vacuum, and the $120 billion would go towards lots of other health initiatives (read between the lines…. wasted), but my bubba math says that if you divided the $120 billion by the 45 million uninsured, that would be about $2,550 per person per year or over $10,000 per year for a family of four. My annual COBRA payments for our family of four are just over $10,000 (and if you read my blurb on COBRA earlier you know how I feel about that). So by my rationale, Mr. Edwards plan is just as good as COBRA.
